Snooze is limited to 2 times: why, and how it works
Snooze is handy, but if you can press it forever, there is never a moment to get up. YOBIOKO limits snooze to 2 times.
How snooze works
Tapping × (Stop) while the alarm rings starts a snooze. After a while, it rings again.
| Count | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1st and 2nd | It rings again after the time you set |
| From the 3rd | It rings again 5 seconds after you stop it |
Even during a snooze, the alarm ends once you finish typing your tasks.
Why 2 times?
Everyone wants “just a little longer” sometimes. So snooze stays, with a cap on the count. The app waits twice. From the third time, typing your tasks is the only way forward.
The difference from a snooze you can press forever is that this one has an end. Your morning gets a clear point where typing starts. For what snooze means in general and how to change its length on iPhone and Android, see What is snooze?.
An example morning
If you tap × three times, the morning goes like this.
- The alarm rings and you tap ×. This is the 1st snooze.
- It rings after the time you set, and you tap ×. This is the 2nd snooze.
- It rings once more after the time you set.
- If you tap × now, it rings again 5 seconds later.
- You tap “Type tasks” and type to the last task. The alarm ends.
You can of course type right away at the first ring. Whether to use snooze is up to you each morning.
Change the snooze length
In Settings, “Snooze length” sets the time until it rings again.
To pick a length, start from the time you leave home. Two snoozes move your wake-up time back by two snooze lengths. Set the alarm time with that in mind.
| Your situation | One way to set it |
|---|---|
| Your mornings are tight | Make the snooze shorter |
| You plan to snooze twice | Set the alarm earlier by two snooze lengths |
| You do not want to lean on snooze | Decide to tap “Type tasks” and not × when it rings |
Opening the app during a snooze
A “Snoozing” card appears at the top of the Alarms screen with the time until the next ring. You can type your tasks from there to end the snooze.
If you decide to get up during a snooze, you do not have to wait for the next ring. Type your tasks from the card and the alarm ends for that morning.
How this differs from the 5 seconds while typing
“5 seconds” shows up in two places in YOBIOKO. They are easy to mix up, so here they are side by side.
| Situation | What happens after 5 seconds |
|---|---|
| You tap × after using both snoozes | The alarm rings again 5 seconds later |
| Your hands stop while typing tasks | The sound rings. It stops when you continue |
The 5 seconds while typing is explained in Stop for 5 seconds and it rings again.
On days you are already up
On the Alarms screen, choose to skip the rest of today's alarms and type “I'm up, skip”. The alarms set to ring later today are turned off. From tomorrow they ring as usual.
This is useful when you wake early or your plans change. The screen where you type this phrase has no 5-second ring, so you can type slowly.
Common stumbling points
- You tap × and it rings right away: you have used both snoozes. Tap “Type tasks” and type.
- The wait until the next ring is too long or too short: check “Snooze length” in Settings.
- You do not know when it will ring during a snooze: open the app. The “Snoozing” card shows the time left.
FAQ
Can I change the number of snoozes?
The count is fixed at 2. What you can change in settings is the snooze length.
Can I type my tasks during a snooze?
Yes. Open the app and type from the “Snoozing” card. When you finish, the alarm ends.
Is there a way to check once more after it stops?
Yes. You can turn on the wake-up check for each alarm. It sends a silent notification after you finish typing.
